James Hunter lived in Neah Bay. And was son of the last Chief of the Ozette Village on the coast of Washington.  His brother Shubid Hunter worked in silver at Neah Bay. James being a prolific carver of Sea Wolf headdresses, rattles, paddles, and, model canoes in the 1920 30's.  HE was selling through the Queets and Hoh cabins and store on the Washington Coast.  The rattle represents a Grouse? It is painted and overcoated with varnish and has raffia braided attachments
