JULIUS TWOHY "LAND ELK" OIL PAINTING SIGNED ON THE BACK
Land Elk was a Ute Indian from Fort Duqueasne, Utah. He exhibited in the Seattle Art Museum annual show in the 1930s. He also was a participant, wrestling in the regional fairs. He painted a mural in the Washington State Capitol in Olympia during the WPA period which was eventually removed. The painting is titled the "For Runners at Rest and is in excellent condition.
